The KT500 fights fire before it starts. It is a 1.6 tonne tracked, remote-controlled mower built to crush shrubs, dead branches and weeds, open isolation zones and fire ditches, clean up after a fire and remove surface combustibles — the unglamorous preventive work that decides how far a forest fire runs. A 35 kW diesel engine drives it up 55-degree working angles across mountains, jungle and swamp, and it turns 360 degrees on the spot, which matters between trees. Because the operator stands up to 150 metres away with multiple cameras for a view, nobody is on the machine when it takes a slope that would roll a tractor. Attachments change quickly and run on a 250 bar hydraulic circuit, and it cuts material up to 120 mm in diameter.
