DESCRIPTION
Fotokite Phi is a Consumer-Robot from Fotokite. It is built for Entertainment. Key figures: 0.3 kg, 13 min runtime.
Fotokite Phi was Fotokite's consumer tethered flying camera, a folding GoPro-carrying quadcopter announced in 2015 for Indiegogo crowdfunding and built on the same GPS- and pilot-free technology as the Fotokite Pro. To fly it, the user holds the tether in one hand and the drone in the other and, with a flick of the wrist, sends it up like a kite; once in the air, gestures on the smart leash adjust its position and orientation, with no GPS lock or calibration needed. The Phi weighs 252 g without battery or camera, about 350 g with a GoPro, unfolds to 365 x 365 x 100 mm and folds to the size of a thermos (90 mm diameter, 325 mm tall). A 1,300 mAh 11.1 V battery gave about 13 minutes of flight, and the self-retracting smart leash came with an 8 m or 30 m cord. It suited GoPro Hero 3, 3+ and 4 cameras. The Phi Regular was offered on pre-order for US$349.
