SkySpecs Foresight autonomous wind-turbine inspection drone

DESCRIPTION

Foresight is a Service-Robots from SkySpecs. It is built for Data Collection, Mapping, Inspection.

Foresight is SkySpecs' fully autonomous wind-turbine inspection drone, designed and manufactured in the United States, and the platform behind the company's autonomous external blade inspections. Flying itself around a turbine, it captures geospatial data, 3D LiDAR scans and high-resolution imagery of all three blades, inspecting a 3 MW turbine in as little as 13 minutes (about 15 minutes per turbine in practice) so that crews can cover many turbines a day - EDF reported 25 offshore turbines in one day at its Teesside wind farm, compared with about one a day by rope access. Its 61 MP camera with dynamic focus produces sharp images, real-time image verification reduces re-flights, and it is built to keep working in steady winds of up to 23 m/s. Because every inspection is flown the same way, the data is consistent and repeatable for damage analysis and trend tracking; results are delivered in SkySpecs' Horizon blade-management platform with damage categorisation and expert commentary, alongside internal-blade, tower and nacelle inspection data, to plan repairs and maximise turbine uptime. SkySpecs operates Foresight as part of its inspection services onshore and offshore.
