DESCRIPTION

The FIT-U PRO is ULS Robotics' upper-limb exoskeleton, built for jobs done with the arms above the shoulders — the overhead work that wears out assembly and maintenance staff fastest. It splits into three co-operating systems, one for the upper limbs, one for the shoulders and an integrated controller tying them together, delivering electrical assistance to shoulders, arms and waist at once. ULS puts the reduction in labour burden at more than 50% and frames the payoff in staffing terms as much as ergonomic ones: less turnover, higher throughput. It runs on a self-developed motion control card with matching drive units, weighs 3.9 kg, and adjusts from 600 to 680 mm in length to fit different wearers. Bilateral assistance is rated at 10 to 20 kg across eight degrees of freedom, and a quick-detachable 36 V lithium battery supports three to eight hours. Nylon engineering plastic, aviation aluminium alloy and carbon fibre keep the weight down. ULS also intends the device to accumulate data, so that over time employers can analyse worker efficiency and health.
