DESCRIPTION
EPL80 is an Industrial-Robot from YASKAWA Electric. It is built for Material-Handling, palletizing, Case packing. Key figures: 80 kg payload, 2046 mm reach, 5 degrees of freedom.
The Motoman EPL80 was Motoman's 5-axis 'Expert Palletizing' robot, a high-speed, compact arm designed specifically for palletizing with an 80 kg payload, a 2,046 mm horizontal reach and a 3,194 mm vertical reach, repeating to 0.07 mm. Its 5-axis design uses no parallel links in the upper or lower arm, which removes interference zones inside its wide 360-degree work envelope, so one robot can serve several infeed conveyors and a pallet-build position from a small footprint. It ran on Motoman's NX100 controller, with a Windows CE colour touch-screen pendant, the INFORM III programming language, control of up to four robots, dual-channel safety with enhanced E-stop and speed monitoring, and Ethernet with DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus-DP and EtherNet/IP options; MotoSim EG off-line programming was optional. Internal air and user cabling ran to the tool. Recochem in Edmonton installed one in 2009 to case-pack and palletize 9.46-litre bottles in a cell no larger than the manual packing lines it replaced. The EPL80 has long since been replaced by the MPL80 and then the PL80.
