DESCRIPTION
Centa Painter is an Industrial-Robot from Pace Robotics. It is built for Coating, Construction, Mapping.
Centa Painter is a modular construction robot from Pace Robotics that finishes interior walls and ceilings. One machine handles four tasks: applying putty, sanding, priming and painting. It is placed in a room, the operator selects the task, and the robot maps the room, positions itself and works through each wall and ceiling without floor plans, dimensions or scans being fed in. The robot runs on NetriX, Pace's in-house software stack. An IMU, Kalman filtering and LiDAR scan matching give SLAM localisation to within 1 cm. An active stereo (RGB-D) camera detects beams, columns, doors, windows and features as small as 1 cm, such as electrical points, so the arm works around them. A planner with model predictive control (MPC) produces collision-free paths, and deep reinforcement learning with dynamic programming sequences the passes to limit overlap and material waste. Spray passes are pre-planned for uniform coat thickness, and the sander uses customised motions to correct undulations. Computing is split between an NVIDIA Jetson board running real-time Linux and Cortex-M7 controllers on an RTOS, linked by Ethernet and CAN. A virtual safety bubble stops the robot when a person enters it, and onboard emergency stops are fitted. The robot logs area completed, passes, material consumed and productivity for project tracking. Pace reports more than 24 months of site deployments, over 1 lakh sq ft of trials and pilots, and a first commercial delivery in December 2025.
