BabyAlpha A2 is WEILAN's AI companion robot dog for families. A small quadruped on 12 all-metal joint actuators, it combines a pet-like personality - nearly 100 on-screen facial expressions, more than 40 biomimetic actions and emotional reactions such as greeting family members - with a multimodal large language model that holds conversations, remembers preferences and recognises faces. Beyond play it works as a home device: it makes two-way audio and video calls and can be driven around the house from a phone, follows and films family members as a walking camera, and, using its FSD 1.1 mapping with ToF and LiDAR, patrols the home and raises alerts on unexpected motion. It docks itself on an optional charging station, and children get picture books, stories and language practice. A2 comes in four trims that differ in actuators, storage and endurance: the base A2 and A2 Plus run about 60-80 minutes at up to 4.8 km/h, while the Pro and Ultra run about 120 minutes at up to 6.0 and 7.2 km/h. WEILAN lists the Pro at RMB 16,099 and the Ultra at RMB 26,099; the range was announced in China in September 2024 and launched internationally on Kickstarter in October 2024.
