DESCRIPTION
ABCR is a Cleaning-Robots from Bit Mapper. It is built for Cleaning, Inspection, Monitoring.
ABCR (Automated Gun Barrel Inspection and Cleaning Robot) is a cylindrical crawler from Bit Mapper that drives itself through large-calibre artillery barrels to clean and inspect them, replacing manual barrel cleaning by gun crews. The maker lists it for 155 mm, 130 mm, 125 mm, 105 mm and 76.2 mm systems, with both smooth and rifled bores. After the robot is inserted into the barrel, it mops the bore and uses its AI-assisted camera to find heavily fouled regions. It then degreases the barrel, sprays cleaning agent, brushes and mops, either through a pre-programmed sequence or with AI assistance, removing carbon deposits, copper fouling and combustion residue. A final pass mop-dries the bore and sprays lubricant oil to protect it against corrosion. In fully automatic mode it re-inspects and re-cleans any patches it finds still dirty. The modular robot uses high-torque motors, supports manual and automatic operation with live monitoring, and accepts flexible power supply options. Bit Mapper says the brushing system is patented in the USA and India. At Eurosatory 2024 the maker listed ABCR as TRL 10 and commercialised, and it has undergone more than 15 trials with the Indian Army.
