DESCRIPTION

4NE-1 is a Humanoid from Neura. It is built for Assistance, Manipulation, Material-Handling. Key figures: 80 kg, 20 kg payload, 55 degrees of freedom.

4NE1 is NEURA Robotics' full-size humanoid, developed and engineered in Metzingen, Germany, and presented by the company as Europe's first fully cognitive humanoid robot. It is built to move with human-like fluidity, perceive its surroundings precisely and work alongside people - in unstructured industrial environments as much as in everyday assistance at home. It stands 180 cm tall, weighs 80 kg and moves at up to 5 km/h, with 55 degrees of freedom across the body and hands of 12 degrees of freedom. The arms carry 20 kg, and NEURA states that leg-supported configurations can carry up to 100 kg, with the real figure depending on where the load sits, the end effector and the configuration. What makes it cognitive rather than merely mobile is the sensing: a touch-sensitive sensor skin over the body and 360-degree perception, fused by multimodal AI with a language model, computer vision and reinforcement learning. Dedicated human-detection safety sensors are an option at extra cost. 4NE1 runs autonomously, by AI voice or under remote control, and has exchangeable forearms so one machine can be re-tooled for different work. NEURA sells dedicated models on the same core - versions on wheels for industrial floors, or with a seventh axis for extended reach - and has announced 4NE1 Mini, a smaller robot with the same AI and perception aimed at research, education and entertainment. The technology descends from the company's earlier cognitive robots, the LARA and MAiRA arms. The first generation was shown at automatica 2022; the design is now in its third generation and reservations are open.
