Alibaba Launches Qwen-Robot Series: A Complete Embodied AI Large Model Family

Alibaba Group has officially launched the Qwen-Robot series, marking the tech giant's first complete family of embodied AI large models within its renowned Qwen ecosystem. The release signifies a major strategic shift, moving AI capabilities out of digital chatbot windows and into the physical world, positioning Alibaba at the forefront of the global embodied intelligence race.

The newly introduced Qwen-Robot Suite is designed to provide a full-stack technological foundation — covering "hands, feet, and brain" — to scale up intelligent agents across various hardware platforms, including industrial robots, service droids, and even in-car robotic systems.

The Three Pillars of Qwen-Robot

The Qwen-Robot series is built upon three interconnected core models, each addressing a critical component of physical interaction.

Qwen-RobotManip is a Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model focused on fine manipulation. Traditional robotic control often suffers from weak task generalization. Qwen-RobotManip overcomes this by directly interpreting natural language instructions and translating them into precise action trajectories, significantly enhancing the capability of robotic arms in unstructured and unpredictable environments.

Qwen-RobotNav is a Vision-Language-Navigation (VLN) model responsible for spatial understanding and path planning. It strengthens the spatial perception and decision-making loop of mobile robots — a capability critical for the deployment of logistics AGVs in complex factory zones and for the future of autonomous mobility.

Qwen-RobotWorld is perhaps the most ambitious component: a video "world model" designed for environmental cognition. By modeling and simulating the physical world, Qwen-RobotWorld empowers robots to predict how physical scenes will evolve before they take action. This predictive capability serves as essential infrastructure for high-level autonomous driving simulation tests and accelerated autonomous robot learning.

A Universal Foundation for Physical AI

Developed by Alibaba's AI research unit, Tongyi Lab, the Qwen-Robot Suite has already entered pilot testing with selected Alibaba Cloud enterprise clients. The overarching goal of the Qwen-Robot series is to provide a unified "general foundation" for different forms of robots, enabling them to better understand human natural language, perceive three-dimensional environments, and comprehend physical laws.

As the automotive sector and broader manufacturing industries accelerate their shift toward intelligence, embodied AI is emerging as the defining variable for the next generation of smart terminals. With the Qwen-Robot series, Alibaba is not just providing software; it is building the cognitive engine that will power the autonomous workforce of the future.
