AeroVironment secured its first international purchase order for the LOCUST directed-energy counter-drone system, worth more than US$50 million, six days after a record US$464.8 million US Army production contract for the same laser system.

AeroVironment secured a $464.8 million US Army contract to mass-produce its LOCUST X3 laser weapon, the first American production deal for a directed-energy defense system, backed by a $30 million Albuquerque manufacturing expansion.

The US Army awarded US$192 million on September 1 to move its TITAN AI-enabled intelligence ground station into production, with Palantir as prime (US$127 million) and Anduril delivering hardware and shelter integration (US$65 million) for an initial eight systems over eighteen months. The award confirms the software-led contracting model survived its transition from prototype to production, and puts both defense-tech firms on a public manufacturing clock.

Federal Ammunition, Mossberg, and Palladyne AI are jointly developing SwarmShot, a reusable autonomous drone interceptor built on Palladyne AI's Army-tested Gremlin-X platform, aimed at flipping the cost economics of counter-drone defense.

Forterra disclosed that more than 100 Lancer autonomous all-terrain vehicles have supported Ukrainian forces for nine months, completing over 1,100 missions since October 2025. The Polaris-based robots have hauled an estimated 777,440 pounds of supplies, traveled more than 2,500 miles, and conducted 52 casualty evacuations in what the company calls the largest US defense-tech autonomous ground vehicle deployment to face combat.
