The household UFU is RoboCT's stand-assist and transfer robot adapted for the home, and the design constraint that shapes it is space: a domestic bathroom or bedroom gives a wheelchair nowhere to turn. RoboCT's answer is a base that pirouettes a full 360 degrees in place, so the machine rotates rather than manoeuvres. It serves people who cannot stand or walk normally after spinal cord injury, brain lesions, neurological disorders, myasthenia or major surgery, and it covers the daily self-care that determines whether someone can stay at home — transferring position, standing training, and toileting. That last function is the one that most often forces a move into residential care, which is why a device aimed at it belongs in the same conversation as a rehabilitation exoskeleton rather than being treated as furniture.
