Robocath R-One+

R-One+ is Robocath's robotic assistance platform for interventional cardiology: a system that lets a cardiologist advance, rotate and hold guidewires and stent or balloon catheters from a shielded console during coronary angioplasty, instead of manipulating them at the patient's side under X-ray. Robocath says the design is protected by more than 60 international patents. It has two parts. The robotic unit - the robot on an articulated support arm that the cardiologist positions over the patient before the procedure - carries a sterile, clip-in single-use cassette with two paths: one for the guidewire, which can translate and rotate simultaneously and be locked in place, and one for the stent or balloon catheter, which translates. The command unit sits either in the catheterisation lab behind a mobile radioprotection screen or in the control room, and carries separate joysticks for the guidewire and for the catheter, each with two speeds, plus a hold function and a way back to manual operation at any moment. The point is precision and protection: stable, accurate movements that create better interventional conditions, with the physician entirely shielded from X-rays. It works with market-leading guidewires, stent and balloon catheters and imaging systems, installs in a few minutes and fits the existing procedure without adding steps. Its predecessor, R-One, was CE-marked in 2019 and achieved more than 95 percent technical procedure success with no major adverse cardiovascular events in the R-Evolution trial.
