The SHURUI Single-port Endoscopic Surgical System (SR-ENS-600) from Beijing Surgerii Robotics is, by the maker's account, the world's first commercially available single-port surgical robot with snake-like instruments. It has been approved by China's National Medical Products Administration, making it the first single-port surgical robot cleared there for both urology and gynaecology surgery; general and thoracic surgery applications are under review. A 3D endoscope and three surgical instruments reach the surgical site through a single multi-channel trocar of 2.5 cm diameter, so the whole procedure is carried out through one skin incision. Surgerii cites reduced trauma and blood loss, faster postoperative recovery, less pain and minimal scarring as the intended advantages. The instruments and endoscope use the company's own "actuation and control technology for deformable continuum mechanism", which the NMPA singled out for its wide range of motion, high payload capacity and reliability. The 3D endoscope bends in different directions for a wide field of view. The surgeon works from haptic masters at a console, with a distributed control system spanning serial rigid linkages and the deformable continuum instruments, and can set different motion scaling ratios to increase precision. The system has been used for the world's first single-port totally robotic distal gastrectomy (Billroth I anastomosis) and the world's first single-port robotic total gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer.
