The INSPECTOR Milling Robot cuts grooves and removes localised defects inside pipe systems, working accurately to 1/10 mm. Milling robots are matched to the pipe dimensions and, with the standard drive elements, can work at every point along a pipe section. Inspector Systems describes their use in modernising nuclear power stations: operators of boiling water reactors applied a protective cladding to critical pipe areas, which required a groove 60 mm wide and 4.5 mm deep to be milled around the complete inner circumference of the pipe.
