Astra is HHS Robotics' dual-arm research and education platform, and it is the most completely specified robot in the company's range: 1,350 mm tall, fourteen degrees of freedom across two arms, 633 mm per arm, 5.5 kg per arm carrying up to 6 kg, communicating at 1 kHz. It exists to remove the setup tax from robotics research. Built on ROS 2 with millisecond real-time communication and distributed computing, it connects out of the box to depth cameras, 6D force sensors and more than twenty other peripheral types, which HHS says cuts the planning and deployment cycle by forty per cent. For data collection it offers ±0.1 N force-control precision with 1080p 30 fps visual feedback under remote operation, synchronously capturing eight dimensions of data — force, pose and images among them — at up to 1 kHz to build standardised datasets. Simulation is integrated rather than bolted on: deep MUJOCO integration holds dynamics simulation error at or below 3% across more than twenty interaction types such as friction and collision, and Isaac Lab compatibility supports parallel training of over 200 agents with fifteen preset tasks and policy transfer error under 5%.
