Science Visions with Alice Hierholz: Robotics for construction sites

University of Stuttgart PhD researcher Alice Hierholz shows real mobile construction robots she is developing at the Institute for System Dynamics and the IntCDC cluster. The robots are meant to map indoor sites, recognize and pick up building parts, and fasten them by screwing or nailing, including in spaces where people are working. A fleet of different mobile manipulators shares the work, using reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and language models so they can learn tasks from human demonstrations. The video is a lab portrait of working hardware in Stuttgart, not a concept animation.
