DESCRIPTION

Vizum's intelligent welding robot exists to break a constraint that has shaped welding automation for decades: the fixed welding cell. Instead of bringing the work to a bolted-down arm, it puts a precise six-axis arm on a multi-degree-of-freedom lifting platform above a high-mobility omnidirectional chassis, so the robot drives to the seam — which is the only workable approach for ship hulls, heavy fabrications and large steel structures that cannot be fed through a workstation. The arm spans 922 mm and positions its torch to ±0.05 mm. Above it a lifting column travels 500 mm and a rotation mechanism turns ±165 degrees, while the chassis parks to ±20 mm and turns a full 360 degrees on the spot. Sensing is Vizum's own: a Starlight Eye 3D camera built specifically for welding, feeding a proprietary welding platform that handles path planning and coordinated control, which is what lets it find and follow a seam rather than replay a taught path.
