DESCRIPTION

TAFIN is Sastra Robotics' functional-testing robot for gyro sensors - a stationary test cell that physically moves and orients a device so its motion sensors can be exercised against known inputs. Gyroscopes are awkward to test any other way: verifying them means actually rotating the device through controlled angles and rates, which a software harness cannot do and a human tester cannot do repeatably. TAFIN automates that motion so the sensor's output can be checked against the movement it was actually given. It sits in the same family as Sastra's other test robots, which work devices from the outside rather than instrumenting their software. Note that Sastra's dedicated TAFIN product page is no longer online following the company's rebrand to SGBI; the surviving description of the robot is the entry on the company's own portfolio page, which lists it as "TAFIN - Gyro Sensor Testing".
