The T3 works in the maintenance trench beneath a train, which is one of the worst environments a depot fitter deals with — cramped, dark, dirty and requiring sustained attention to the underside of a vehicle overhead. It replaces that with a wheeled platform carrying a robotic arm and a vision system, running the length of the pit to inspect the train's underside and side appearance and flag defects with intelligent positioning and alarms. Its intelligence is deliberately local: edge computing on the airframe means it shoots and processes immediately, re-shooting and re-checking anything anomalous rather than waiting for a server, and it keeps working offline — offline patrol, offline stop, offline return — when the depot network is not there. Safety is layered for working alongside people: emergency stop, front and rear collision prevention, arm collision stop, an arm virtual safety wall and dual laser obstacle avoidance front and rear. At 220 kg it crosses 5 cm trench cables and runs five hours.
