DESCRIPTION

RcDC is a Cleaning-Robots from Amano. It is built for Cleaning. Key figures: 30 kg, 120 min runtime, released 2015.

RcDC (model RV-380iX) is Amano's autonomous commercial robot vacuum, developed and built for Amano by Sharp from its factory-automation and automated-guided-vehicle know-how, and sold by Amano from 28 September 2015 at 1.8 million yen before tax. The name stands for Robotic Cleaner, Dutiful and Competent. Set-up is done by driving the robot round the area once by hand: its sensors measure the size and shape of the space and show it on a tablet, where staff mark furniture and pillars to avoid. It then cleans the set area on an optimised back-and-forth path and reports completed areas on the tablet as it goes. A high-speed power brush and suction that switches automatically with the amount of dirt do the dust removal; laser range, ultrasonic, bumper and step sensors handle obstacles and drops, and a drive recorder and voice guidance come as standard. It cleans a 380 mm path at up to 2.3 km/h, for a theoretical 874 m2 an hour, and runs up to about two hours per charge on a lithium-ion battery that recharges in about four hours. The robot measures 474 x 760 x 565 mm and weighs about 30 kg. Tokyo building-maintenance firms trialled it in offices, a university building and special-needs schools in 2018; it is no longer in Amano's current robot line-up.
