DESCRIPTION

Power Knee is a Medical-Robots from Össur. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Rehabilitation, Helping. Key figures: 2.6 kg, 1500 min runtime, 1 degrees of freedom, released 2022.

Power Knee is Össur's actively powered prosthetic knee for people with above-knee, knee-disarticulation, hip-level or bilateral limb loss. Össur launched the current version in February 2022 and calls it the world's first actively powered microprocessor knee: unlike passive microprocessor knees, which only control resistance, a harmonic-drive motor creates motion, replacing the concentric and eccentric work of lost thigh muscles through the gait cycle. Algorithms read the wearer's thigh movement and synchronise power delivery at any walking speed. The motor lifts the wearer from sitting, supports step-over-step stair ascent, gives controlled resistance on stairs and slopes, powers the leg to extension for the next step, and stiffens to recover a stumble if swing is interrupted. A standing lock engages when the knee is loaded straight or held flexed for 3 seconds. Össur reports more symmetrical gait and a lower energy cost of walking. The knee weighs 2.65 kg including its battery pack, has a 27.6 cm build height and 120 degrees of flexion, and supports users up to 116 kg. A battery lasts about 25 hours of normal use and recharges in 5.5 hours. It is rated IP54, compatible with osseointegration, set up through the Össur Logic app, and covered by a three-year warranty.
