DESCRIPTION

PLUTO-H is a Medical-Robots from Thryv Rehab. It is built for Data Collection, Rehabilitation, Helping.

PLUTO-H is a portable robotic device from Thryv Rehab for rehabilitating the hand and wrist. It was developed at IIT Madras and clinically validated at Christian Medical College Vellore, and is aimed at patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, orthopaedic injuries and surgery. The patient's forearm is strapped to a padded rest on a compact base, and the hand engages one of several interchangeable mechanisms, each driving a single degree of freedom: wrist flexion and extension, wrist ulnar and radial deviation, forearm pronation and supination, opening and closing the hand around a cylindrical handle, and functional handles shaped like everyday objects such as cups, pens and keys. Together these train the grip, grasp and hold movements needed for daily tasks. Therapists choose continuous passive motion, robotic assistance that starts when the patient initiates a movement, an active mode in which the robot applies no force, or resistance training. The device connects over Bluetooth to Windows-based software that runs 2D and 3D games, adapts difficulty, records progress and supports remote monitoring. It has an emergency stop and is light enough to move between wards or use at home. Thryv states CDSCO certification and ISO 13485, and reports multi-year clinical trials at CMC Vellore with more than 1,000 patients.
