DESCRIPTION

Parata Max is an Industrial-Robot from Parata Systems. It is built for Dispensing, Sorting, Prescription vial filling: labelling, counting, capping, sorting. Key figures: 955 kg.

Parata Max is Parata Systems' high-speed vial-filling robot for pharmacies, which labels, counts, fills, caps and sorts prescription vials of oral solid medicines so pharmacists can spend their time on checking and patient care. The current model, Max 2, launched in October 2019; Parata, based in Durham, North Carolina, has been part of BD since 2022 and sells it as BD Parata Max 2. The Max 2 has a two-sided design: drugs, vials and caps are loaded from the inventory side at the back while finished prescriptions come out at the front, so it keeps running during restocking. It holds from 111 cells (22 standard and 89 super cells) to 200 standard cells - 156 standard and 22 super cells as standard - covering up to about 80% of a pharmacy's oral-solid volume, and it stores 232 completed vials before anyone needs to attend it. An internal camera photographs every filled vial for verification, built-in cell calibration lets staff add or swap drugs on site, a 2D barcode scanner loads drug data in one scan, and colour-coded lights signal when vials, caps or labels need topping up. Parata Pulse monitors the machine over the network. The unit is 79-3/8 in wide, 79-1/4 in tall and 28-3/4 in deep (about 2.0 x 2.0 x 0.73 m), weighs 2,106 lb unloaded and needs a dedicated 120 V, 20 A supply and an Ethernet link. In Singapore, Tan Tock Seng Hospital's Outpatient Pharmacy Automation System, opened in 2014, used a Parata Max to count and cap loose tablets alongside a BD Rowa Vmax storage robot.
