DESCRIPTION
ORV is a Mobile-Robots from Okamura. It is built for Intralogistics, Material-Handling, Transport. Key figures: 300 min runtime, 300 kg payload, released 2022.
ORV (Okamura Robot Vehicle) is an autonomous mobile robot that automates moving roll cages (kago-sha) between process steps in logistics warehouses and lining them up, for example in front of truck berths or at vertical conveyors. Okamura put it on sale in September 2022 after showing prototypes at the International Logistics Exhibitions of 2018, 2020 and 2021 and testing it in real warehouses and factories. It builds a map and tracks its own position with SLAM, so it needs no guide tape, floor markings or landmarks, and layouts can change freely. An AI recognises roll cages and the robot drives to them and grips one side, so the cages need no modification or markers. Because it lifts rather than tows, robot and cage move as one unit: it turns on the spot, reverses with the cage and parks cages in tight rows. It avoids obstacles, or pauses for them in narrow aisles. When it needs charging it drives to its charger on its own, and an IoT remote-monitoring system uploads operating logs to the cloud for remote troubleshooting. Okamura specifies a top speed of 60 m/min alone and 40 m/min with a cage, a 300 kg payload, a minimum aisle width of 900 mm, 640 x 930 x 500 mm dimensions, about one hour of charging for up to five hours of continuous work, and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional 3G/LTE.
