The Zhuofeng ophthalmic surgical robot is Oculotronics' (Guangzhou Weimou Medical) system for micron-scale fundus surgery. It uses a serial-parallel, modular mechanism with a quoted instrument-tip precision of 3 to 5 microns, remote-centre-of-motion accuracy within 100 microns and a closed-loop motion-control cycle of under 30 microseconds, driven from a surgeon console with real-time 3D high-definition imaging. The lightweight, mobile unit fits existing operating rooms without modification. In November 2025 the system performed what the company and Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center describe as the world's first remote robot-assisted subretinal injection: a surgeon in Guangzhou steered a microneedle into a patient's eye in Urumqi, Xinjiang, more than 4,200 km away over a 5G link, with the remote part of the procedure taking under seven minutes. China's first multicentre, randomised, parallel-controlled registration trial of an ophthalmic surgical robot finished in June 2026 with preliminary results meeting its efficacy and safety endpoints, and the device entered the NMPA innovative medical device special review channel in mid-2026. It is not yet registered for sale; first installations are planned at leading eye hospitals once registration is granted.
