DESCRIPTION

Nucleus is a Medical-Robots from Punar. It is built for Medical-Assistance, Rehabilitation, Helping.

Nucleus is a portable robotic hand-rehabilitation device from Punar for patients whose hand has been weakened or paralysed by stroke and other neuromuscular conditions such as spasticity, spinal cord injury or cerebral palsy. It pairs a powered finger exoskeleton with a sensor glove and a compact control unit. The exoskeleton is strapped to the affected hand while the control glove is worn on the unaffected hand. When the patient moves the healthy hand, the exoskeleton drives the fingers of the affected hand to follow, a mirror or bilateral training approach that Punar bases on the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) reflex-stretching technique. Punar states that Nucleus offers more than five training modes that can be tailored to each patient. BioSpectrum India lists them as two-handed PNF and bilateral training, active-assisted training, continuous passive motion, gamified action-observation therapy and functional exercises. The device records sessions and produces quantitative progress reports, so one physiotherapist can supervise several patients at once.

FEATURES

  • Portable robotic hand exoskeleton worn on the affected hand
  • Sensor control glove worn on the unaffected hand drives the exoskeleton (mirror / bilateral training)
  • Based on the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) reflex-stretching technique
  • Linkage exoskeleton covering the four fingers and the thumb (as shown in the maker renders)
  • More than five training modes, customisable per patient
  • Modes reported by BioSpectrum India: two-handed PNF and bilateral training, active-assisted training, continuous passive motion (CPM), gamified action-observation therapy, functional exercises
  • Quantitative feedback with a detailed analysis of each session
  • Physiotherapist can plan sessions and receive recovery reports
  • Separate standalone control unit with power button and status LEDs
  • Targets stroke paralysis, spasticity, some spinal cord injuries and cerebral palsy
