DESCRIPTION
Dual 6-Axis Sortation is an Industrial-Robot from FORTNA. It is built for Material-Handling, Pick-and-place, Parcel singulation and sorter induction in distribution and parcel centres.
The FORTNA Dual 6-Axis Sortation Solution is a robotic pick-and-place cell for parcel and distribution centres that singulates packages out of bulk flow. Small packages make up almost a third of shipped orders, and singulating them by hand is repetitive, physically demanding work that is hard to staff. The cell pairs two FANUC articulated six-axis arms with vacuum end-of-arm tooling and FORTNA's proprietary AI vision system. The robots pick each package, orient it and place it for merging onto an induction line, handling polybags, bubble packs, mailers and conventional boxes at up to 3,000 packages per peak hour. Machine learning lets the robots recognise package exceptions, reset and restart sorting by themselves, which cuts human intervention and downtime. A parallelised design lets the cell work with upstream and downstream automation in both new and existing buildings, and FORTNA WES software coordinates it with the rest of the facility.
