Dasher is an indoor autonomous serving robot from Kody Robots, the robotics brand of Kody Technolab in Ahmedabad. It carries food and drinks from the kitchen to tables in restaurants, cafes, hotels and banquets, and in offices it can deliver mail or coffee to desks. A round face screen on top shows animated expressions, and a tall body display on the front carries messages and promotions; trays are mounted on both sides of the column. The robot maps the venue and navigates with what Kody calls dual SLAM, using a single-line LiDAR with a 25 m range and 270-degree field of view together with a dual depth camera system. It is driven by 6.5-inch hub motors on an independent suspension, has a top speed the maker gives as up to 5 mph, and runs a quiet low-noise mode during service. When its battery runs low it returns to its charging dock on its own. Dasher stands 1,272 mm tall with a 500 mm footprint and weighs 48.5 kg. Its 25.6 V, 20 Ah lithium-ion battery is rated for 8+ hours in the datasheet and 10+ hours on the product page. Staff manage robots, menus, orders and analytics from a central dashboard, and guests can order by QR code. Kody says Dasher served at the HSBC Elevate annual meet in Mumbai and a Taj Skyline event in Ahmedabad.
