DESCRIPTION
DALE is an Industrial-Robot from August Robotics. It is built for Construction. Key figures: released 2026.
DALE is a fleet-capable autonomous downward-drilling robot for concrete, built on August Robotics' autonomous platform in collaboration with DEWALT, whose SDS Max rotary-hammer drilling technology it carries. It drills the thousands of floor holes that data-centre and other large construction projects need for server-rack stops and supports for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. Crews upload a CAD or CSV file of drilling points to a Windows tablet app; the robot plans the fastest sequence with AI and drills autonomously, and additional robots automatically share the workload. It drills holes up to 1-1/2 in. in diameter and 14 in. deep with 1/8 in. location accuracy and no more than 1 degree of drift, more than 50 holes an hour for 3/4 x 2 in. holes, detects and cuts rebar and avoids obstacles. Automatic dust detection and vacuum extraction keep sites free of silica dust, and fast-swap batteries and remote monitoring support work around the clock. DEWALT debuted it at World of Concrete in January 2026 and launched it commercially in July 2026; pilots with a hyperscaler drilled more than 230,000 holes at 99.97% accuracy. DALE was named to TIME's Best Inventions of 2026.
