DESCRIPTION
cocobo is a Mobile-Robots from SECOM. It is built for Security, Inspection, Monitoring. Key figures: 135 kg, 180 min runtime, released 2022.
cocobo is SECOM's security robot. It patrols commercial facilities, office buildings, airports and other public spaces in place of resident guards and carries out inspection work, giving guards extra eyes, ears and judgement. SECOM launched it on 17 January 2022. Early users included Narita International Airport and Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, and it won a 2022 Good Design Award and the top prize in Nikkei's 2022 Superior Products and Services Awards. It drives a set patrol route on its own, avoids pedestrians and obstacles, copes with slopes and rough surfaces, and returns to its contactless charging dock when its battery runs low. With elevator integration it can also patrol several floors. Its cameras and microphones stream to a monitoring console in the guard centre, and AI analysis of the video detects people left behind or fallen and abandoned objects, with optional detection of abnormal sounds and heat sources. On the standard type an optional arm on its back can carry a thermal camera to check inside bins, and remote-triggered voice, lights or a smoke generator can warn off intruders. A high-brightness LED display shows messages, and guards can talk through it. cocobo measures 679 x 1,179 x 1,178 mm and weighs about 135 kg including its battery. It runs about three hours per charge at up to 6 km/h, is rated IPX5 and connects over 5G, LTE or Wi-Fi. A public-road type, certified in April 2025 as a remote-operated small vehicle, can also patrol nearby public roads and open spaces at up to 4 km/h, including at night.
