PARO
DESCRIPTION
PARO is an interactive therapeutic robot created to provide emotional support and therapy, representing the company’s vision for social robotics in healthcare. First introduced in 2003, PARO has evolved as a companion robot that responds to touch, sound, and speech. Unlike single-purpose industrial robots, PARO is designed to operate in human-centric clinical and long-term care environments, especially among elderly patients to reduce stress, anxiety, and loneliness. Its development reflects broader industry interest in socially assistive robotics where adaptability and natural interaction matter most.
