The Z-Boat 1800-RP is Teledyne Oceanscience's remotely operated hydrographic survey boat for high-resolution shallow-water mapping, getting bathymetry where conventional methods are not feasible or safe and avoiding the need to mobilise a workboat. Advanced radio telemetry makes all data available in real time, with GNSS position and heading onboard and real-time processing through CARIS Onboard. Its ruggedised design is IP67-rated, with an optional modular deck structure for antennas, a camera and extra sensors, and an interchangeable sensor well, changed from beneath the boat, that takes Teledyne Odom MB1 and MB2 multibeams, the CV100, Teledyne RDI ADCPs and Tritech side-scan sonars, with custom integrations available. The 1.8 m boat weighs 38 kg and carries 30 kg; dual brushless 24 V outdrives give a typical survey speed of 3 to 3.5 knots and 8 to 10 knots top speed depending on configuration, with up to 4.5 hours on NiMH batteries. Control is by a 2.4 GHz telemetry remote with 1,200 m range, with data telemetry over 5 GHz MIMO (up to 500 m) or worldwide 4G LTE. A drone upgrade adds waypoint navigation and autonomous operation with onboard logging for laser-straight lines over large or repeated surveys. It is two-person portable at under 150 lb in typical configuration.
