Japet.W+ is a motorised lumbar exoskeleton for people whose work involves repetitive gestures, load handling or restrictive postures. Worn around the waist, it uses motors and motion sensors to stretch the back slightly and absorb shock, which Japet says acts as a shock absorber for the spine while keeping mobility and muscle activity. The assistance adapts to the wearer's movements, with four strength levels. It weighs 2 kg, fits under work clothes and goes on in 30 seconds. The battery lasts 7 hours and fully recharges in 2 hours 30 minutes, and the textile liner detaches for machine washing. It holds class IIa medical CE marking, and Japet reports three published clinical studies. An optional Exoinsight service tracks use and posture data for employers.
