This is a lightweight powered hip exoskeleton built on bionic principles, aimed squarely at reducing the energy cost of walking and protecting the joints while doing it. At 3.5 kg in a carbon fibre frame it delivers up to 25 N·m of assistance, sensing the wearer's movement intent in real time and adapting the support to match rather than applying a fixed profile. It offers three assistance levels and three modes — assist, assessment and stair climbing — the assessment mode being the interesting one, since it turns the device into a measuring instrument for real-time motion analysis as well as an actuator. Practical details decide whether something like this gets used: voice prompts, wireless app control, IP55 sealing, a two-hour charge, and quick-swap batteries giving four hours or more per pack so a long day is not limited by charge.
