Gemini UP Double Box is BouMatic's two-stall automatic milking robot: two milking stalls stand side by side and one robot arm serves both, milking two cows at the same time from between their rear legs. Sharing one arm across two cows raises throughput per robot, and the side-by-side layout uses cows' social behaviour, since one cow draws another into the box and both keep an open view of the herd. It uses the same milking technology as the single box: a dual-attachment head that fetches two cups at once, a stainless-steel time-of-flight 3D camera and machine-learning vision for teat attachment, 60 to 90 seconds of udder preparation and per-quarter milk screening, managed through the OneView software from a touchscreen, phone, tablet or PC. Several double boxes can be grouped in one milking area as a Gemini UP MAX installation for large herds. The double box is 5.9 m long, 2.8 m wide and 2.4 m high and weighs 2,600 kg.
