SQUID ist ein Industrial-Robot von hibot. Er ist für Prüfung, Inspektion, Überwachung ausgelegt. Eckdaten: erschienen 2020.

SQUID is hibot's robotic system for inspecting industrial boiler tubes from the inside, now also used on steam heating coils in operating storage tanks. A sensor module inserted into each pipe scans the wall with a 24-channel ultrasonic sensor, reading every 5 mm at up to 100 mm/s; a reel module autonomously deploys and retrieves it, and a pump unit generates the flow that assists its motion. The result is a continuous 2D map of wall thickness, instead of a few spot readings, with areas under pre-defined limits clearly visible. In boilers it enters through the head drum and inspects water pipes of 50-68.2 mm internal diameter up to 45 m long, with bends from 1D R45. In tanks it enters through existing coil flanges with the tank in service, mapping 60-70 m of coil in about 40 minutes with no confined-space entry; hibot reports a seven-tank pilot on the US Gulf Coast. The header and tubes must be filled with pure water, and coils are flushed first. SQUID started service in Japan in 2020.
