BESCHREIBUNG
ALT-B is a driverless shuttle that carries people across NAVER's GAK Sejong data centre. The site is the size of 41 football pitches with a round trip of more than a kilometre, so NAVER LABS describes the vehicle as an elevator that runs horizontally: you call it from a kiosk, get in, and get out. The B stands for bus. It comes out of NAVER's ALT project, an on-road autonomous platform meant to be customised for different jobs, and runs the company's own full-stack self-driving software, ALTRIV — developed on real city streets after NAVER became the first Korean IT company to receive a temporary autonomous-driving permit from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in 2017. There is no driver's seat. Sensors handle day, night and bad weather; a display inside shows the route and destination, and an exterior LED panel tells pedestrians and drivers what the vehicle is about to do. Like the other GAK Sejong robots it is connected to ARC, NAVER's cloud system, which monitors it and handles dispatch.
