Building Abi | Andromeda Robotics' humanoid companion for aged care & assisted living

Abi is an empathetic humanoid companion robot designed to provide companionship and help combat loneliness in aged care and assisted living communities. The idea for Abi first came to Andromeda Robotics co-founder Grace Brown when she was experiencing isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Abi has provided hours of companionship to residents in aged care homes and assisted living communities. Abi brings joy and companionship in a number of ways, including through playing music and dancing, engaging in trivia, or leading tai chi in group sessions, through to engaging in 1:1 conversations in up to 90 languages with residents that may otherwise be socially, physically or linguistically isolated.
