Type1 is MiraiKikai's autonomous cleaning robot for solar panels on roofs and rooftops, built for desert regions where water is scarce. It sweeps sand off the panels with its own rotating dry brushes, using no water, and MiraiKikai says it cuts cleaning costs by 80% compared with manual cleaning. Placed at a corner of the array, it drives along each row while sensing the panel edges, crosses gaps between panels with a special mechanism, moves to the next row at the end and signals when it reaches the goal. It cleans about 300 square metres per hour on tilts of 0 to 15 degrees, weighs 28 kg so one person can carry it, and runs 2 hours on a removable battery.
