The UGO medical exoskeleton is the machine that established RoboCT: a lower-limb rehabilitation exoskeleton for hospital rehabilitation departments, aimed at patients with lower-limb motor dysfunction from spinal cord injury, myasthenia or other neurological disease. Its design intent is repetition done correctly — high-frequency, accurate walking training that re-establishes a normal gait pattern rather than simply moving the legs. RoboCT built a full training progression around it rather than a single mode: passive training driven entirely by the equipment, plus active and combined active-passive modes, with online assessment shaping the programme. Practical design decisions matter in a ward — the leg lengths adjust electrically, there is an interactive video screen, and mechanical fixation with strap protection guards against secondary injury, backed by an anti-misconduct module, an emergency stop and a removable support frame. It was among the first products to obtain NMPA certification for neurological rehabilitation in China, and its industrial design has won iF, Red Dot, DIA and Golden Pin awards.
