Workmate is IONO Robotics' humanoid, presented as Austria's first autonomous humanoid robot and marketed as the secure humanoid from Austria. It is designed for real industrial settings rather than laboratories, to take on repetitive, physically demanding and simple tasks in industry, logistics, retail and the service sector. Its most distinctive engineering choice is hybrid locomotion: it both walks and drives, so it can cover distance efficiently and still handle the places a wheeled base cannot. IONO rates it for continuous 24/7 operation and fits it with more than 20 sensors. Press coverage of its launch in Linz reported a drone integrated into the robot's head, which can be launched from the robot to survey, inspect or extend its view of its surroundings from the air. Workmate sits on IONO's own platform technologies - the Iono Skin sensor skin, modular sensor systems, and software and AI infrastructure for industrial use. The company states delivery for 2026 and reports pilot projects with industry partners in Austria, Germany and Italy.
