The picking Xiaowei swaps the wheeled base for a tracked one and gains a great deal of mass — 220 kg against the AGV version's 110 — because orchard and greenhouse ground does not reward light machines. It keeps the family's dual 7-degree-of-freedom arms and 16-degree-of-freedom hands but totals 36 degrees of freedom, adding a 2-degree-of-freedom chassis, a 2-degree-of-freedom mobile platform and a 1-degree-of-freedom material turntable, which is the part that turns it from a manipulator into a harvester: picked fruit goes onto the turntable rather than needing a second machine or a person. The platform lifts 500 mm to reach fruit at different heights, positions to ±0.1 mm, and completes a pick in two seconds. The tracked chassis moves at up to 3 km/h. Its precision comes from the same line-laser binocular stereo vision that Vizum sells as a standalone product, which is what allows non-destructive picking of soft produce where an imprecise grasp bruises the crop.
