The JVM-100 is a small observation-class underwater ROV from Johnnette Technologies that streams live HD video from depths of up to 100 m. It is flown from the surface on a 150 m Kevlar-reinforced tether and is meant for moderately demanding inspection jobs; the maker says it can also carry custom payloads and sensors. The vehicle measures 467 x 390 x 250 mm and weighs 9-10 kg in air with ballast, with 1 kg of payload capacity. It reaches 1.5 m/s forward and runs about 2 hours in normal use, or about 4 hours in light use, on an 18 Ah battery. A 1080p camera with 110-degree field of view, 0.01 lux sensitivity and +/-90-degree tilt is lit by four 1,500-lumen lights. Navigation sensing includes a 3-axis gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer, internal and external pressure sensors and power sensing. Johnnette lists dam and bridge inspection, sonar surveys, subsea cable and pipeline checks, ship-hull, propeller and ballast-tank inspection, port structures, search and rescue, oceanographic research and defence tasks such as explosive-ordnance identification and coastal security.
