HIVA Haiwa is Haier's household humanoid, announced on 26 July 2025 and billed by the company as a 'housework terminator'. Haier is the world's largest home-appliance maker, and the robot's premise follows from that: rather than replacing appliances, HIVA is meant to operate them — running a floor washer, cooking, and working the washing machine, then ironing, folding and putting clothes away. It stands 165 cm and weighs 70 kg, with 44 degrees of freedom across the body and dexterous hands, and it reaches from floor level to about 2 m. Like most home humanoids arriving now it rides a wheeled base rather than walking on legs — steadier in a kitchen, and cheaper. Haier is unusually candid about the state of it: the company states that the household tasks shown in its promotional material are performed by engineers teleoperating the robot, and that these sessions are how it gathers training data. So the demonstrations are real work, done by people at a distance, with autonomy still ahead. The robot follows a March 2025 strategic agreement between Haier Brothers Robotics Technology (Qingdao), part of Haier Smart Home, and Beijing Robot Era, to develop service robots for the smart home; Chinese reporting notes HIVA closely matches the silhouette teased then. Haier's own card for the robot gives it a birth date of 20 September 2024 and a stated ambition to 'take on all the housework'.
