The Pest Monitoring Robot is GC Robotics' answer to a job usually done by fixed traps and a person with a clipboard: it drives itself around a field, lures nocturnal insects with an ultraviolet and visible-light lamp that switches on by light level and timer, funnels them into a sealed escape-proof box, photographs them and counts them. Recognition runs on the machine: AI vision identifies pest species with a stated 90%+ rate and a counting error of 5% or less, and images, counts and positions upload over Wi-Fi or 4G. It works either as an automatic cruise across the whole field or as fixed-point forecasting at chosen spots. The chassis is four-wheel drive with independent spring suspension and four hub motors, and it moves in straight lines, sideways, diagonally or spins on the spot for a zero turning radius — useful between rows. It measures 660 x 642 x 686 mm, weighs 75 kg, carries 70 kg, climbs 35-degree slopes and clears 50 mm obstacles at up to 0.8 m/s. Navigation uses a 16-line LiDAR, a depth camera and a 6-axis IMU for +/-5 cm positioning with obstacle response inside 0.2 seconds. A 36 V 26 Ah battery gives at least 12 hours under load and recharges in two and a half.
