The AxBoat is AiDrones' autonomous, highly manoeuvrable unmanned survey boat (USV) carrying ultrasonic sonar sensors for mapping and surveying rivers, lakes, harbours, mining pits and shallow sea beds. It can run surveys autonomously or by remote control while the operator stays safely ashore watching the live survey data, and reaches launch sites that manned boats cannot. Applications include hydrographic surveys, searching for objects such as munitions, wrecks or archaeological artefacts with side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profilers, measuring sediment thickness, inspecting underwater structures such as pipes, cables and walls, and river gauging and discharge measurement with an ADCP. Preparation takes about 10 minutes from arrival to launch, and the whole system can be handled by a single person.
