描述
Atalante X is Wandercraft's rehabilitation exoskeleton: a self-balancing, hands-free overground device that stands a patient up and walks them without crutches or a walker. Because the exoskeleton balances itself, patients who have no trunk control can still walk safely, and the clinician can concentrate on the therapy rather than on holding the person up. It has 12 motors, including an articulated ankle, and mimics physiological walking patterns. Assistance can be set asymmetrically and joint by joint, so one device serves early mobilisation and chronic care and adapts to each patient's therapeutic goals. Sessions are overground gait training - repeated stepping, weight shifting, turning and multidirectional movement - with gait metrics tracked in real time and comparable across sessions; the battery supports all-day use with a change. One published study of post-stroke patients reported mean donning of 6 minutes 43 seconds and doffing of 1 minute 32 seconds. It is cleared for adults with hemiplegia or hemiparesis, paraplegia or paraparesis and tetraplegia or tetraparesis in Europe and Australia, whatever the cause; in the United States and Ecuador the indication covers hemiplegia after stroke, spinal cord injury at C4-L5 and multiple sclerosis. The FDA has cleared it three times - stroke rehabilitation in December 2022, spinal cord injury T5-L5 in February 2024, and C4-L5 plus multiple sclerosis in November 2025 - and it is CE marked in Europe with an expanded certification in August 2025, listed as a Class IIa device on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods, and cleared by ARCSA in Ecuador in July 2026. Operators must complete a certified training programme. It is not intended for sports or stair climbing.
