Unicorn is a waterless solar panel cleaning robot made by Aegeus Technologies in Bengaluru for ground-mount and rooftop solar arrays. It travels along a row of panels and removes dust with a triple-brush system combined with controlled airflow, without water, hoses or chemicals. Aegeus says this removes 99% of daily soiling. The robot powers itself: an on-board solar panel charges its lithium-ion batteries, and its docking station has its own solar charging unit, so no external cabling is needed. It can clean on a fixed schedule (TIME mode), start automatically when measured dust levels rise (AUTO mode) or be run remotely. End-of-row stoppers and last-panel detection keep it on the table, the brushes clean themselves after each run, and a remote maintenance mode sends every robot back to its dock. Aegeus rates Unicorn at 1,800 to 2,000 or more panels per hour, depending on dust level, with 3 to 4 hours of runtime per charge. Each robot reports to a central monitoring station (Aegeus Connect), and configurations are built to suit the number of panels in a row. The company also offers Unicorn cleaning as a pay-per-panel service and reports deployments in India and the Gulf.
