The Q-Boat 1800 is Teledyne Oceanscience's remotely operated instrumentation boat for acoustic Doppler current profiling, a total solution for river discharge measurement in streams, rivers, lakes and coastal waters. It keeps people out of and off the water, is not restricted to bridges or taglines, and sends data to a shore laptop in real time, with mounts for all popular ADCPs as standard. The 1.8 m UV-resistant ABS hull weighs 30 kg and carries a 30 kg payload. Twin high-power brushless 24 V outdrives give a top speed of 10 knots (5 m/s) with the security of dual motors, while precision variable-speed propulsion allows profiling as slowly as 0.3 m/s, and dual steering mechanisms add safety. Three 24 V 30 Ah packs give up to 240 minutes of running. It is driven by a 2.4 GHz telemetry remote with 1,200 m range, with data over a 900 MHz Hydrolink (over 2,000 m) or 5.8 GHz Ethernet (up to 500 m). Supported instruments include Teledyne RDI RiverRay, RiverPro, Rio Grande, StreamPro and Monitor ADCPs, the SonTek RiverSurveyor M9 and LinkQuest FlowQuest; it can be mobilised by one or two people.
